On the 24th of January, 2017 the Kick-off ISM-KA Consortium meeting was held at the Rotterdam School of Management – Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
The “International Security Management Knowledge Alliance” (ISM-KA) is a European Project funded within the Erasmus+ Programme, which aims at addressing the current global issues by creating sustainable and concrete resources and structures to foster international security collaborations. Moreover, the ISM-KA project will establish an international learning, teaching and knowledge-sharing environment for the development and professionalization of leadership, innovation and operational proficiency in the field of international safety and security.
Main objectives of the Project are the delivery of a Horizon Scanning Tool for security threats and developments, a Security Multilogue Platform built around a brand-new executive Master Degree program for public and private security experts, and a number of MOOCs on selected topics for outreach to the wider public.
The ISM-KA Consortium represents a selection of relevant stakeholders in the area of international security management. Partners of the ISM-KA Project are: Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (NL), Sheffield Hallam University - CENTRIC (UK), INITIATIVES (DK), Emergency Planning Society (EPS) (UK), FORMIT (IT), Lapprand Conseil International (FR), Police Academy of the Netherlands (NL), Institute for Public Security of Catalonia (ISPC) (ES) and, Estoril Institute for Global Dialogue (Estoril Global) (PT). The partners are supported by an Advisory Board which covers a complementary portfolio of stakeholders and experts in order to broaden the international and domain scope of the ISM-KA.
The Kick-off meeting was a valuable opportunity for the consortium members to get acquainted and strengthen existing partnerships. The main tasks and objectives of the project were extensively discussed and a strategy developed to support the continuous involvement of all partners and to ensure the realisation of the ISM-KA objectives.
In addition to a general support required to carry out all the project activities, FORMIT is part of the consortium as leader of the Work Package 4, which is mainly dedicated to the Dissemination and Exploitation activities. The latter represents an essential role to guarantee the success of this Erasmus+ Project that aim at providing training activities to the excellences of the international security.
